The security guard class is a 40-hour training program that teaches the basics of security training for the state license. The security guard class includes various aspects of security that include physical security, access control, terrorism awareness, and emergency measures. The security guard class also trains students for report writing, interviewing, crime prevention, and accident precautions. The State of Florida entails that a licensed security school must deliver this kind of security training course.
After completing the security guard classes successfully, the enrolled participants will get a training certificate of completion. Once they get this certificate, the students will then need to submit it to the Florida Division of Licensing alongside their security license application. This can be done via mail or in person. Students that put their application to the department in person get a temporary security D license. This license qualifies them to commence their security career as a certified security officer.
If applicants want to work in armed security, they’ll need to complete unarmed security training first before moving on to armed security classes.
